Cool It Lube by Pinnacle
A complete line of both liquid and solid innovative lubricants
Cool It Lube is a complete line of both liquid and solid innovative lubricants for applications for metalworking including sawing, plastic finishing, knife blade grinding, sanding resin-coated products, and robotic grinding applications for increasing abrasive belt life, reducing the coefficient of friction, improving material removal and finish quality.
Our spray and sold lubricants require a minimum quantity application. For our spray lubricants, we provide a misting type of spray gun providing a controlled micro quantity application.
This revolutionary lubricant can be applied TO a variety of materials without causing contamination or discoloration.
Cool It™ is ideal for:
Plastic
Wood
Rubber
Metals such as brass, bronze aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and titanium.
Cool It™ is also an excellent lubricant when milling, drilling, tapping, circular sawing, and band sawing.
Cool It (TM) Liquid
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Product Name: Cool It (TM) Liquid
Product Type: Proprietary Natural Product-Based Lubricant
Density (lbs./gal.): 7.08
Appearance: Blue Liquid
Brookfield Viscosity (cps): 20
Spindle No. 2, 60 rpm
OUTSTANDING PROPERTIES
Cool It (TM) functions as a lubricant with extreme pressure properties. The lubricant attaches to the surface of the coated abrasive via two mechanisms called adsorption and chemisorption and forms a monomolecular layer.
This layer reduces the surface energy, which results in increased stability of the adsorbed film. The actual protection against wear is made possible by the ability of the adsorbed film to withstand
the local contact pressures between the abrasive and the metal part. This film shears readily, with low frictional resistance, during the polishing process. Reduced friction means lower heat generation at the point where the abrasive and the part make contact.
This reduction of heat prevents the breakdown of the resin that bonds the abrasive to the belt. Another benefit is that much less force is required to polish the part.
Abrasive belts that have developed a metal coating will continue to cut as long as Cool It (TM) is applied. In fact, even if the belt has become so coated that it will no longer cut, applying Cool It (TM) will restore its ability to do so.
Cool It (TM) is non-corrosive to the metal parts that are being polished and has tarnish inhibiting properties for brass applications. In addition, Cool It (TM) will not interfere with subsequent buffing, plating, coating, and anodizing processes.
The method of application and the amount of Cool It (TM) used are key factors in maximizing belt life. For testing purposes, a manual spray bottle can be used. A small amount of Cool It (TM) goes a long way.
It is unnecessary to saturate the part, or the belt with Cool It (TM) and it is also not required to apply the product every time a new part is being polished. Most successful tests only required one spray of approximately 2 grams every 15-20 minutes.
For most manual abrasive belt polishing operations, a simple handheld spray bottle applicator can be used. For precise application with a limited amount of waste, we recommend using a low-pressure spray gun. The spray should cover the full width of the belt.
It is also recommended that a foot pedal switch be used so the operator can actuate the spray as needed. The spray gun is normally mounted on the bottom of the hood at a position where the belt is traveling away from the operator. The application of Cool It (TM) for robotic installations can be controlled by the robotic controller.
Cool It (TM) is ideal for robotic polishing operations because it can significantly increase the working time between belt changes. It is not unusual for the working time of the belt to increase from one hour to four or five hours with the application of Cool It (TM).
